Is the Scan to Network folder feature not working on your printer? Sometimes, you cannot scan to the network folder on your Windows computer if the password-protected sharing is turned on. Fix the scan issue by executing the troubleshooting steps given below.

Turn off Password Protected Sharing

  • On your Windows 10 computer, open the Start menu and click the Settings icon to open the Settings app.
  • Alternatively, you can launch the Settings app by pressing the Windows + I shortcut keys.
  • Click the Network & Internet tab in the Settings window.
  • Select the Status option from the left-side panel.
  • Below Network troubleshooter, click on Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click on Change advanced sharing settings from the left-side panel.
  • Expand All Networks and go to the Password protected sharing section.
  • Select the Turn off password protected sharing option.
  • Click on Save changes to disable the Password protected sharing feature.
  • Now, try to scan your document to the network folder.
  • If the Scan to Network Folder feature is still not working, try to execute the next solution.

  • On your Windows computer, give a right-click on the scan folder and select the Properties option.
  • In the Scan Properties window, go to the Sharing tab and click the Advanced Sharing button.
  • Select the Share this folder checkbox and click the Permissions button.
  • In the Permission for Scan window, click the Add button.
  • Enter your scan account user name in the Select Users or Groups dialog box and click the Check Names button.
  • Click OK and wait until the scan user account is listed in the permissions list.
  • Make sure to allow all the access for the scan.
  • Click OK and try to scan your document to check if the problem is resolved.
